Stock Market Review for this Week

The markets closed flat today after volatile session as a result of high crude prices. Banking, auto and IT gained moderately while capital goods was among the prime losers in today's trade. The Sensex closed at 18486, down 3 points from its previous close, and Nifty shut shop at 5538, up 2 points. The CNX Midcap index was up 0.2% and the BSE Smallcap index was down 0.3%. The market breadth was negative with advances at 612 against declines of 687 on the NSE. The top Nifty gainers were Reliance Power, Tata Power, BPCL and Hero Honda and prime losers included L & T, JP Associates, Maruti and SAIL.
